
Dr. Sarah Shephard DVM | Amberwood Veterinary Hospital
Dr. Sarah Shepard grew up in Georgia and attended Sewanee in Tennessee for her undergraduate studies. After graduating from Sewanee, she spent 2 years in rural Bolivia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Upon completion of her Peace Corps service, Dr. Shepard continued to work in the international development field while attaining a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on women’s health. She worked in the field of human health epidemiology for several years before changing her career focus to animal health. Dr. Shepard worked in the equine industry for several years before going to vet school. She attained her DVM from Michigan State University.
Dr. Shepard prioritizes working with owners to both prevent and resolve their pets’ health concerns. She approaches all of her patients with a strong sense of compassion and true commitment to ensuring healthy outcomes. Dr. Shepard is Fear Free Levels I and II certified and is deeply passionate about providing a positive, relaxed, low-stress clinic environment for all of her patients.
Dr. Shepard has been a resident of Culpeper county since 2005. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and bluegrass music.
