Heart + Paw Acquires Homestead Veterinary Center in the Poconos

On Monday, January 11th, Heart + Paw acquired Homestead Veterinary Center located in Kunkletown, PA. Founded by Dr. Sheri Newell and her husband, Richard, the dynamic duo has provided the Poconos-area with veterinary care for over 32 years.

“Being part of the Jonas community and providing preventive care to thousands of patients over the years has been something that we are proud of here in our center. We are looking forward to our future with the partnership with Heart + Paw to provide advanced technology and medicine for our patients,” says Dr. Sheri Newell.

Newell, a graduate of Penn State and the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, currently holds the title of president for the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society (IVUSS). She has continued her education around advanced training in ultrasound, geriatrics, internal medicine, and telemedicine. The Newells partnered with Heart + Paw because of the company embodying the family atmosphere and practice values that Homestead Veterinary Center holds dear to their heart.

The acquisition of Homestead Veterinary Center marks the 11th center and fifth acquisition for the Heart + Paw portfolio. Heart + Paw CEO, Dave Lasus, said this about the acquisition. “Dr. Newell has done a phenomenal job of growing a well-respected clinic. The wealth of knowledge Dr. Newell possesses, especially around ultrasounds, is an invaluable asset to the addition of our team and internal group of doctors. In building upon the legacy, plans on the horizon include upgraded technology, minor alterations, and the addition of prevention plans to allow clients to provide all the preventive care their pet needs in a budgeted, affordable way.
