Post Graduation – Support and Development VITAL to Your Success Transitioning from School to Practice

Transitioning from veterinary school to the real world of practice can be tough without a supportive network of peers advising you and the confidence that comes with experience. Heart + Paw is invested in helping you succeed and will guarantee you have a dedicated coach and a large community of peer veterinarians working around you to offer guidance, knowledge, and collaboration.

VITALS, which stands for Veterinarian Initiation Together to Achieve Lasting Success, is a 16-week focused, coach-led onboarding program. The goal of this program is to:

  • Help you deepen your practical knowledge of general practice and establish your relationship with your coach.
  • Ensure you are accompanied and supported during every one of your shifts for the first 6 months to help lessen your anxiety and maximize teaching moments.
  • Give you a safe space to collaborate and ask any questions you have, and not worry about having the wrong answer or no answer.
  • Provide you with the skills you need to transition successfully into the role of full-time practitioner.

Through VITALS, you’ll receive individualized learning objectives based on self-selected areas of focus, along with regular feedback to challenge you and help you improve your skills. A collaborative team atmosphere and access to the latest veterinary equipment and technology will give you an amazing opportunity to learn and practice medicine in a low-stress, pet-centric environment. You will have additional continuing education opportunities in surgery, dentistry, and ultrasound and regular rounds with our Directors of Operations.
